No worries on all the questions. Yes that is what you need to do.

Thanks for your help.  As this threat has moved away from it's initial wifi focus is it worth moving it to the gaming forum?

Could be, but we know where to find it

I can't really help with Pandoras battery, except to find you guides as I've never done it myself.

Well I couldn't wait and thought I have a go at downgrading using the link posted earlier:

http://forums.noobz.eu/downgrader-support/pandoras-battery-jigkick-battery-and-magic-memory-stick-tutorial-guide/0/

Got to step 14 without any hitches and then realised that I need a downgraded PSP to create the Pandora's Battery.  A bit chicken and egg!

I'm assuming that once I get a Pandora's Battery (found one on Ebay) that I can then use my PSP and downgrade it to 1.50FW?

You'll need a Pandora Battery and Magic Memory Stick (not sure if what you have found on ebay is a kit or something). Once you have them you can downgrade your PSP.

I think it might have been Tippon (might be wrong) that created their own Pandora Battery.

Nope, wasn't me. I've got the original 'fat' PSP, bought a few hours before launch

I might start playing around with homebrew again though, seeing as a few of the guys in work have just got PSPs

Tried out a Datel PSP Wifi Max - got all the internet features running after a lot of playing around.  Eventually managed to get the bundled media server software to show up on the PSP - but I couldn't download anything to my MS without hanging my PC.  Can't recommend this as an option for PSP wifi.....

I'm going to revert back to my original plan of wireless router and IRShell, dunno when I'll get around to it though......

Thanks to everyone for thier help.  Got a Pandora's Battery from Ebay.  Arrived yesterday and within a couple of hours my PSP was running M33 3.90.

Modding options are excellent.  Any recommendations on interesting things to do now that I've fulfilled my need to hack into it?
