i have set up a home network with my main desktop running xp connected to my wireless router through the wire(LAN) and my old laptop running win2000 connected through wireless. however, that old laptop is gone and i now need to connect my vista laptop to it.
i have had a play around but as i have never used vista at all before this i cannot seem to 'see' the shared folder on my xp desktop.
so...i need help, from scratch, setting up vista for the sharing. mainly at the moment to see and write to the folder on xp which is set up to be writable. i guess i can sort out a shared folder on vista myself as i believe it is the same as xp that i just right-click and share. also i will attempt to share the printer at a later date.
in this picture it shows 2 adapters that i am not sure if i need to set both as trusted but on the win2000 laptop there was only one and i set it to trusted and it allowed the sharing to pass through... [/img]

You need the Network section.
Lots of things are turned off be default, it's all "tick box" stuff.

| dont know how but it now works, i can see the xp desktop in network connections of the vista laptop and also the printer after installing the driver. i have set up a shortcut on the vista laptop's desktop. i can also see the folder i shared on the vista laptop from within the xp desktop but when i right click the icon in network places and either click send to-desktop shortcut or simply create shortcut, neither option actually does anything. any suggestions?
