Ditch em.

It will get worse with them, I use to have them, things got so bad with poor connection, traffic shaping, that I changed over to Be.

No restrictions, good speed and never yet received any warnings with regard to my heavy downloading.

I'm guessing you're on about ADSL here.

Cable has had the traffic shaping for a while, only ever had it applied once though. Speed is rock solid and I'll be going from 4 Mb to 10 Mb soonish for no extra money.

Please use tinyurl to reduce the size of links.
It makes a huge difference to those of us with tiny screens.

Makes no difference to me, Virgin takes your money each month, then you expect to have a proper service without any traffic shaping, dosen't matter whether its ADL or Cable.

heard about this a couple of weeks ago

its going downhill, once they switch the analogue signals off that will free up some of the network also the docsis 3 system will bring greater speeds and higher bandwidth capacity thus freeing up more space when users migrate to this new service

I really don't mind traffic shaping as long as it is done honestly.

If I pay for 10Mbps I expect to be able to get 10Mbps when not doing heavy downloading.
I expect to use spare bandwidth so that if at peak time I download 10GB then I expect it to be slow but if I download 10GB off peak then I don't want to be shaped after 1GB (which is what happens with NTL)

Basically, I'm fully aware that having an infra-structure that can cope with everybody's desires at 6pm and sit idle at 2am is not realistic for any business. I am also fully aware that companies over-subscribe. There is a balance between the two that can achieve decent profit margins and an acceptable service.
