| I'm trying to host a game server on my PC and have to do the following: To allow others to connect: You will need to open ports: TCP 7777, 2106, 2009, 80, and DNS (TCP/UDP) 53 on your firewall. Ports 7777 and 2106 are needed for server, others for client or GameGuard. Basically, if you want to run only the server you need only ports 7777 and 2106, but for someone who is connecting to your server all ports must be allowed. You will also have to forward those ports if you use a router. Because the variations are to many, we can not tell you how to do either. Contact your hardware/software manufacturer for further information on how to do this, or have a look at http://www.portforward.com I tried a few tutorials but don't understand anymore than I did before... So here I am asking for help from somebody who has some time and patience to tell me what to do. My routers screen-shot:
Thank you
Oh, yeah, they're gonna talk to you, and talk to you, and talk to you about individual freedom. But they see a free individual, it's gonna scare 'em.

| Hiya, What is the game that will be hosted, and what is the actual make of the router (couldn't see it in the screen shot, although only a cursory glance as busy at work, so may have missed it) cheers,

| I still don't get it.... It says "You will need to open ports: TCP 7777, 2106, 2009, 80, and DNS (TCP/UDP) 53 on your firewall" Does it mean 7777, 2106, 2009 and 80 has to be open on my router and 53 on my firewall?

Ok, try this guide - http://tinyurl.com/3h7qfx specifically for lineage 2. Again it is portforward.com (I really can't describe just how bloody useful that site is). Follow the instructions, they are very straightforward and clearly explained. That *should* be all you need to do...

The router needs to forward everything on said ports to a specific machine.
That's the routing bit and involves the Port Forwarding page.
If the router has a firewall too, then these ports need to be open.
I don't believe yours has a discrete "firewall".
Any firewall on the target machine has to have these ports open too.

ricedg (05/06/2008) Any firewall on the target machine has to have these ports open too.I use Zonealarm, and didn't have to do anything within that when I did the port forwarding for Dawn of War... Would that be different for his router or possibly dependant on the firewall he uses (or do you mean any hardware firewalls in place)?
