Hi, I have been slowly putting my DVD's onto my hard drive (and external hard drive for trips away) by using DVDShrink to rip the main film, and then using Vidomi to shrink the file size down using the settings suggested by slipstream in his MPEG encoding race thread.

Unfortunately i am experiencing a slight problem in that on playback with MPC and FFDshow filters (settings from slipstream again!) the audio is coming out really strange.  The best way to describe it is like it is under water or something but no speech is recognisable.  This doesn't happen every time though.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a cause and possible remedy to this problem?

Cheers,

Didevldo

Yes. The scrambling is happening during the encoding phase, not during playback. Close and relaunch Vidomi between encodings, ie, launch separate occurrences per encode. There is a patch to fix this problem on the Vidomi homepage.

Cheers, Slipstreem.

System specs: "Phoenix" - Intel C2D E4500 overclocked to 3GHz with ACF7Pro HSF on Volt-modded ASRock 775Dual-VSTA mobo (modded BIOS rev 3.10A and VNB=1.65, Vagp=1.8), 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800 RAM (3.0,3,3,8,1T @546MHz), Sapphire ATI HD3870 512MB GDDR4 PCIe graphics card overclocked to 850MHz GPU & 2.4GHz RAM. Powered by Hiper Type-M 580W PSU. Guess who likes overclocking on a budget.

Great, thanks slippy!  Will give the patch a go.  As ever, your knowledge is endless and very much appreciated!
