Hi,
Just installed a Q6600, would like to overclock it to 3.2ghz reading posts on forum it seems that I need to drop multiplier to 8
Do not want to increase cpu coltage or mess with ram timings ....
So a sb of 400 a good start?
/me reads more posts....

I would but then I like to fly by the seat of my pants. The more reserved way would be to keep knocking it up say 500Mhz at a time and check stability. I'm sure it will be fine at those speeds though. Most peeps seem to hit the wall at 3.6Ghz max. Edit: Oooh try some Pi(e) when your through...

anyway now running at 3.4ghz which I am happy with 3.6 would be even better :-)
not sure how to stop NB & SB voltages rising .... maybe need to lock down something else
would I need to increase cpu voltage ?

You probably need to set the voltages to manual. If you find instability then they may need tweaking.

If I try to up fsb past 383 NS and SB voltages jump and turn red
NB = 1.450v
SB = 1.8v
from stock
NB = 1.25v
SB = 1.5v
Cpu voltage is set as at default of 1.325v
Seen so many q6600 running at nearer 4 gig so 3.6 should be possible?
