| Hi everyone, Iam wanting to build a website but have no programming skills yet, first really there's a particular name I would like to 'own'. What is the best way to this? Can I buy the name or domain? i.e www.abcdef.co.uk then a host? Is there a particular host you can recommend, my main purpose will be photos and information, then I wish to add a forum at a later date...I trust this will be too advanced for me to do at this stage? Thank you!

there is a sticky for hosting i use Fasthosts for mine and you get to use site builder (for idiots like me) to help build it,also it will check out if your domain name is available and give you different permatations ie .com .co.uk etc.Even before i signed up it gave me all the relavant .com things. john

A .co.uk domain name can cost about £2 a year if you shop around.
I have seen .com domains for about £8 a year. So try not to get ripped off.
Make sure that you get the certificate of ownership as some companies will effectively hold on to your domain name making the process of switching host quite tricky.
http://www.domainsearch.com/ will allow you to find your desired domain name with different extensions.
