It's hardly worth it. I doubt I'll be folding for much longer anyway.

Q6600 and a HD3850 512MB.

SMP client hates my machine (always has, even with my E2160) so not as many PPD as it should be.
My sig has my PPD in it.

I am using my main pc to fold (as shown in signature) it runs 24hrs a day solid folding, apart from when i'm gaming, even then the folding programs still run in the back ground but they just slow down a little, so as an average it is probably 100%folding for 18 hours a day then slows down a bit for 6 hours while I play, weekends i am probably gaming for half the day. I am using keith's tips for quad folding so i'm running VMware with 2 linux machines each running an smp cleint they take about 12mins to complete 1%, I have also just got the gpu2 client working which also is running all the time.

My points per day are now between 7300-7800 (since i have started to use the gpu2 client which i only got working a few days ago), before that with just the 2 smp clients i was on about 4500ppd.

I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes but all my folding clients are set with the option to use large files greater than 10mb enabled.

Case : Antec nine hundred ultimate gaming case. MB : Asus formula maximus. CPU : Intel core 2 Quad Q6600 @3.5ghz. Mem : 4GB ocz DDR2 8500. Gfx : Geforce 8800GTX 768mb. HD : WD caviar 500gb. HSF : Artic Freezer 7 pro. O/S : Vista64 ultimate

My quad will be off for a bit while i rework everything.

Really looks to me like GPU is the way to go ATM, but i can't see me buying a gfx card just for folding.

Come on, lots of folders aint posted here yet...

Phil.

ATM, I've got my machine in my sig back folding using the SMP Client after installing a very nice new case and power supply.
Then, my sister's PC has a standard client on but I don't think she uses her computer much.

For the future I am going to give keith's vmWare Folding Guide another shot after my last failed attempt so hopefully I could start bringing in another 1000PPD and at the end of October I will be purchasing a new GPU (currently waiting to see which card is best to buy for folding).

If I'm lucky, I could have another computer folding using the GPU2 client with the purchase of a mid-range nVIDIA card/.

I have folded on various rigs even a PII 400mhz (then you could get timeless tinkers) my last one was a C2D plenty of SMPs on that one, I had to degrade my rigs.

Rig is in the Sig. When the PC is left for 24 hours and I don't touch it I get a PPD of between 4800 and 8545 ppd.

Thanks Hugh
