I'm using it to type this. Didn't even know it existed till last weeks mag. And even then I thought it was just for windows because linux wasn't mentioned in the system specs on the review, tut tut MM. You dont have to install it it comes in a tar archive and you just extract it anywhere you want and double click the "flock-browser" file and it runs. Imports bookmarks password and history from firefox and your done. So basically its a portable app for linux.

Its one of a few pieces of software (ReactOS, OpenOffice.org 3) that I can't wait for its release. As its still in beta and expected to have a long development phase I'm reluctant to try it until it is released.

You should give it a try its working perfectly for me at first I could get things like java working but in their forums they've posted a script that links everything you have installed in firefox to flock. I'm sure there are a few issues but its a very good beta. In fact to install flock on linux is easier than compiling a program.

Hi,
I have given it a go, it looks like firefox with all the addons installed by default, it does have some issues though and I think it's mainly down to the fact I am stilling running Firefox 3, I guess there are some share issues with plugins.
The webmail tab is really useful I find.

Tried it and it seems to be working well and a little faster than FF3. It installed plugins for flash without a problem but couldn't do RealPlayer for the BBC site. On the whole not at all bad and I plan to run it alongside FF for a couple of months and see which I like better.

If you go to the Flock forums they have a bash file to download which when you run it will link all the firefox plugins on your system with Flock. Its an issue they're aware of and will be trying to fix it in the future. Heres the thread, don't follow the link to the file hosted elsewhere scroll down to the one thats posted copy it to a text file named as they say and follow thier instructions and everything should work.
