Hi Steve
There's something different about Vista and the way it can or cannot coexist with Linux, with some clues in its EULA (different for the different versions of Vista).
Deciding that life is too short, I simply gave 32-bit Vista Home Premium its own physically separate drive on my [A] rig and installed Linux and XP on the other drive, with GRUB search automatically finding the Vista drive and adding Vista selection to its menu.
Hope this helps, but note that Vista is drive space hungry, so allow three or four times what you would allow XP ?
