| Hi my second hard disk has become invisible to windows! it's a maxtor 40gb IDE disc and can be detected in the post by the BIOS and in device manager through control panel it is recognised and says it is working properly , however it just doesn't appear in windows explorer. I do move this disk around different computers Any one know what the problem is likely to be? Thanks in advance Martin

| Hello - does it show up in disk Management? Click Start, type run and then diskmgmt.msc You may get some information about the disk if it show up there (like unknown format or no drive letter) Are all the other PCs running Windows?

| thanks I tried disk management which could see the disk with no drive letter and all space unallocated. I've given up trying to save any of the data and reformatted it! regards Martin
