Surely they should make them none case sensitive anyway or at least allow capitalisation. It looks untidy. I don't do untidy.

Can anyone help with the display? Other than that, it is up and running but at the moment as it is at 800 x 600, it is a tiny box in the middle of my 19" screen. Rather annoying.

Best not to use your own name as a username, better to use random characters.

The username is just a suggestion, it does allow you to change it

On Virtual box
install the guest additions, that will help.

I have installed the guest additions and with a bit of manipulation of the xorg.conf file, I have got it to my desired resolution. But how do I improve the graphics to get all the glits and glamour working? I want to see what this would be like if I dual boot. I may give Vista a miss for a bit if I can play around with Linux and get it running as well Vista. By the way, this is coming to you from Ubuntu now! It's great, it's like playing with DOS years ago.

I can't remember how I went about it but it runs on my old computer (kept unattended downstairs). I realise this is not really practical help but it illustrates that the F@H lot documented the linux install really well.

Well, well enough that I can't remember running into problems if you just follow the instructions

P.S. Yes I realise there are three "wells" following each other. Not sure if that's good English but it made me chuckle and repeat out loud in a policeman voice. Thank God I'm going out tonight. I think I'm starting to get a bit crazy stuck home.

Thanks for your help chaps. Can one of you tell me if I can improve the graphics in Ubuntu? A straight yes or no will do.

By graphics do you mean "look and feel" or 3d performance?

Look and feel ccan be tweaked to your hearts content, http://www.gnome-look.org/
3d performance is very limited in Virtualbox because it does not use your real graphics adapter it uses a "virtual" one which does not have good 3d capability.
