Marten: He basically gave us a whole load of pointless, dull backstory before simply( ) asking if he has a virus on his computer...
Vendetta: You can try running virus, spyware, malware and rootkit scans but the fact that it restarts on map change suggests that its a specific thing. I'll rattle through a list:
- Your PC could be overheating, a map change sometimes seems to actually requires more power than you'd expect
- Windows updates could be restarting coincidentally, or some other software
- In your excitement you could be pressing the power/reset button
It won't be a problem with the server you're on although if it is overheating then it may be the map. Another problem could be a momentary power outage or a brown out (where voltage drops to below 220V for a period of time).

Would it be V for Vendetta?
Anyway, it doesn't sound like your Anti-Virus is doing a very good job if it let all of them through? What do you currently use?
Most forumites are using Avira Anti-Virus, Avast Antivirus or Rising Antivirus. AVG 8 is not a great thing as the older ones were

| Crashing randomly in a game? It could be heat, try running the game with the side-panel off or something. Then there are a few other things to try. Try reinstalling DirectX 9.0c, a problem with this install can play havoc because the errors usually only occur when the game is full screen, and the BIOS picks up the error and usually automatically reboots on failure. After you've reinstalled DirectX, search for malware with Adware or Spybot S&D, then do a scandisk, a defrag and a registry clean. I would severely doubt that it's actually a virus due to all the CSS maps being located in a gcf archive in the main steam directory. These are about 700 MB each, and they're all compressed with a custom algorithm from Valve. If the virus haphazardly infected the file, it would then be decoded by the algorithm, and not run as it was supposed to, giving an error rather than a fatal crash.
