Simple question, are X48 boards worth buying.
My 939 system has died, so I looking to build a new system, I have a few spare cpu's handy, a E7200, E6420and a E8200, also just bought a HD4870.
So is it worth sticking with a P35 board, or go mad and buy something extreme.
Quite like something like a DFI Lan Party Dark X48, but is the X48 chipset worth the extra expense.
Budget: £160.

No...Cheaper C2D's and mobo's can offer super performance at a fraction of the cost. With Nehalem coming there is no point in spending a lot on what will be old hat.
Intel e7200 @ 4.0GHz (4.32GHz SuperPi(e)) Lapped Asus P5E-VM (Vdroop pencil modded) 4Gb Patriot Pc6400 4-4-4-12 250Gb Samsung Spinpoint Sapphire ATI 3870/Akasa Vortexx Neo Enermax 600 Watt PSU Ubuntu/Win XP All in a Thermaltake Handbag... Or flying @ 4.21GHz in the Stacker. Try some MM Super Pi(e) here!
