Yesterday I removed PCTools Firewall from sons PC and replaced it with Online Armor. Worked fine all day after install, full internet access. After boot up this morning, he had no wireless reception, normally pickup nine or ten home networks including mine, none at all but found this in Device Manager:
Network Adapters.
802,11g Wireless PCIcard No.2.
Yellow ! 802,11g Wireless PCIcard No.2-PCTools Driver.
Yellow ! SIS 900-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter-PCTools Driver.
VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter.
Yellow ! VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter PCTools Driver.
Yellow ! WAN Miniport [IP]-PCTools Driver.
Normally looks like this:
802,11g Wireless PCIcard No.2.
VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter
PCIcard and Ethernet Adapter are enabled and working.
When attempting to delete Yellow ! receive this
‘Failed to uninstall the device. The device may be required to boot up the computer.’
Laptop picks up network fine in same bedroom.
New one on me, any input would be much appreciated.

Looks like PC tools didn't uninstall correctly.

I did think that but cannot find a trace anywhere.
I used CCleaner uninstaller to take it off and clean the registry. Is my best to reinstall and try again.

Tried that alex3410 it will not let me do anything
To high jack my own thread, DaveR, have you heard of a Zoom Wireless-G Router. Got one quite cheap at Tesco’s, while awaiting news of my 3Com. seems to have a better and stronger range than the old box.
I have just reinstalled PCTools firewall and uninstalled it again and the problem still persists. Windows repair next, worth a try before a clean wipe Ithink.

Zoom, don't really know them. Never believe anything written on the box about power and range Power is regulated, nothing can be more "powerful" than anything else. However, some chipsets are "deafer" than others.

Tried to reinstall the drivers MT, no go. Do not know which is worse, the stupid things ignoring me or my sons look when he had wireless and then he did not.
’YOU HAVE BEEN MESSING WITH IT AGAIN’ look. He is all backed up on his second HDD including OS, so a quick swap and he is good to go.
DaveR,the X6 seems to get a good write up on Ebuyer, the price was cheaper at Tesco [think they made a mistake there] and no postage. Setup was very straightforward, if you do not miss a dot in your e-mail address. Was working well on his PC till I fine tuned it.
