The Q9550 is only £40 more than the Q9450. so I think it is good value. I was not aware of the poor over-clockability (is that a word) of Q9*** series though, I was assumig it would overclock like my E6600.

Buy one then if it makes you happy. It doesn't alter the fact that a Q6600 offers nearly twice the value-for-money and performance that very nearly matches it speed for speed.

Cheers, Slipstreem.

System specs: "Phoenix" - Intel C2D E4500 overclocked to 3GHz with ACF7Pro HSF on Volt-modded ASRock 775Dual-VSTA mobo (modded BIOS rev 3.10A and VNB=1.65, Vagp=1.8), 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800 RAM (3.0,3,3,8,1T @546MHz), Sapphire ATI HD3870 512MB GDDR4 PCIe graphics card overclocked to 850MHz GPU & 2.4GHz RAM. Powered by Hiper Type-M 580W PSU. Guess who likes overclocking on a budget.

I just found a Q6600 for £113 saving £94 to put toward my HD 4850 or HD 4870. Just found one on ebay for£99 with free postage.

Basically they are two E6600's in the same physical package.
I found they overclocked in the same way too.
