| Hi all, I've just gotten a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop, pre-installed with Vista....I HATE IT It won't run the software required for my business How do I go about re-installing XP. I have a legit copy but don't connect the internet, it's not required. What do I do about the SATA drivers? There's bloody millions of disks with the laptop but HOW DO I DO IT Barry.

Try disabling UAC (In user account control). Or set the programs you try to use to open in Administartor mode (It's in properties, to test if it helps, just right-click your application and click the "Open as Administrator".
Vista isn't awful really. It takes a little time to learn your needs and then it will be quick once it's sorted Superfetch out. There are other things you can disable like the sidebar and Aero to free up some resources.
If your programs still don't work, then back any items you need up, insert the XP CD and carry out a standard install.
