Ive just purchased a hitachi desktar t7k500 250gb ata133 8mb HDD to fit into a spare system I have laying around, no matter how i attach the drive the system refuses to boot past the verify dmi pool data part of the boot proccess.

Any ideas??

Motherboard is a NF7 abit using a xp2800 and 512mb ram in slot 0 and a fx5200.

Harddrive works fine in external caddy also ive tried the jumpers on the drive in all configurations changed the ide/power cable and used the primary and seconday connectors.

Maybe im missing something but i think the drive is faulty?

thanks for any info

If the drive works in the caddy it should be ok. Getting the jumper settings correct is important. check them and check them again.

It could also be a power supply issue. Try unpluging all you other drives and have it connected on it's own.
