I've had a go at it but just can't find out how to do it. Also the laptop is dual boot with XP and I can't seem to work out how to access that either. Help.

I'm using Xubuntu 8.04.

Hi, One of my pcs is dual boot with mandriva 2008.1 spring and xp windows. To see and read your xp side, open your home folder with konqueror in the left hand side panel open tab system, open storage media, you now see your drive partitions, click on the one that is
xp windows (120g media) and it will open in konqueror, you can open your window files just like your home files in linux. make sure you have
the read-write ntfs driver installed driver name is ntfs-3g dave.w

Sorry I missed this one!
This is how to do it under Gnome, KDE is the same once you get to Network Places.
From memory it's in the same place as Storage Media.

In Gnome, fro, the Place menu choose Connect To Server.
Change the Service type to Windows Share.
Fill in the server and share boxes, User Name is your account on the WHS box.
Tick Add Bookmark (and give it a name) if you want to regularly access it, then click Connect.
You'll the be asked for your WHS password.

If you've bookmarked it a shortcut will appear on the desktop, but I think in KDE it's put into Konqueror on the network tab.

I suspect I'm being really dense but I don't have an option of Connect to Server under the Places menu.

Also following Dave.W's method I get stuck on the first hurdle as I don't have an open storage media option either.

This is my first experiment with Linux and things are rather new so any help would be appreciated.

I've never used xfce, but I gather it's a somewhat slimmed down compared to Gnome or KDE.

There must be a way! I'll have a dig around unless someone who uses Xfce sees this!

EDIT - have a look here http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=280391

Some very limited success.

First off I used Dave R's link and installed pyNeighborhood. This worked and I could see my WHS and the folders on it but every time I tried to mount one I got a failed to mount error. Some digging on forums and a suggestion was to install something called Midnight Commander so I did. Now pyNeighborhood fails at the scanning workgroup stage? I uninstalled MC but it still fails to scan. Any thoughts on how to easily access my WHS shares from Xubuntu?

On the accessing my windows partition I've had no luck at all. I've installed and run NTFS-Config but nothing seems to happen. What now? How do I access it?

Get Ubuntu or Kbuntu, or even better Mandriva Spring 2008 - they just work.
