Reading through the various forums, and gleaning useful info. from them, ---thanks for the link "Sterret" ! I feel that we are all searching for reliablility and value when shopping, and good tech advice when we are in trouble. The latter is pretty well catered for, but I feel the former needs pulling together. How about a seperate shopping forum, where everyone could give their opinions on the various online stores. Where the guys on the ground can tell it how it is. and people like me can learn where the best people to buy from are.
Just imagine the free, reliable material that this magazine could glean from such a rich, reliable source !
Great Mag. and Forum. Thanks to the guys who give their time, over and above the salaried week, to give people like me, the means to sort their "buggy" systems.

Shoppers forum sounds great. I really want to start up a small business without giving up the day job but cant really compete with the chain stores unless I get ebuyer prices, and cant risk it with what I hear about ebuyer customer services.

For RAM at least you should try crucial.com who sell there own quality branded stuff for very little. As for the rest I am not sure about it. Not really sure about any components from US and havnt looked at postal prices exept once when I tried to buy some software but baulked at postage price.
May have a more detailed look now.
BUT we do need a shoppers forum. I have need a quality supplier I can trust. See my new post above.

Excellent idea! As an occasional system builder, I mainly buy from one supplier (CCL Computers) but there are times when I need to purchase components that they don't stock - knowing which suppliers are reliable (and which aren't ) would be very useful - it would also asssit me when making recommendations about components to other users here (and on the other forums I contribute to).

Hi Simon,
we seem to have two threads running the same topic, --- "Shoppers Forum" . It would really be in everyones interests to confine the info. being gathered in one place, so if you want to remove this thread, I have no objections. I have posted my recent experience on the thread started by Vapd.I really feel that if this topic is scattered all over the site, we all may not derive as much benefit.
Am not trying to tell Grandma how to suck eggs, obviously the decision to arrange the site is your's --------- Grandma !
Best Wishes, Alan.

Fed up with trying to second guess the quality of service
from component suppliers,I Like most of us wait to see some sort
of Shopper forum with ratings. Not all suppliers get it right all
the time but it seems some suppliers get it wrong more than they
should.A rating system would soon show up the undeserving of
our combined purchases.
I intend to avoid ebuyer.com and insight after dealing with them.
and I would give a low score to Eclipse and Aria.
But my Supplier with gold stars this month would be Stak
fair prices but best service for me so far.
I called one of the slack suppliers and told then I would tell the
forum who they were to see if it moved them. But it still took
8 days to reply to an email concerning short shipment.
THEY CAN TAKE YOUR MONEY IN HOURS BUT CREDITS TAKE
WEEKS
