Anybody read 'UK Linux' in this week's issue? 29th October.

It's articles like it that are the essence of Micro Mart I feel.
I enjoyed reading it. Much food for thought.

I agree, it was a really good read.

One thing that does worry me with the suggestion though is the UK Governments propensity to completely cock up any computer related project it touches.

I'm not sure if headlines like 'Government overspends by £xBn on Free software' would do opensource software much good.

You beat me to it Malc.
I was going to make the same point. I can see the headlines now, " Free software project cancelled after 6 billion pound overspend".

it was really interesting but I don't think the UK government should be let anywhere near a computer let alone create an OS Hehe

however there is nothing stopping them from adopting an existing distribution such as ubuntu or even its education based version Edubuntu, lets just hope if it does happen someone who knows what they are doing is put in charge Tongue

but imagine how useful it would be to have a live CD/pen drive with all the software/files students need on it so when they get home they can plug it into their computer at home and get on with it without having to worry about if they have the right software at home to open the files (admittedly this is probably only a problem for some students as most will just use office)

Actually I could add loads of smilies. Thanks for brightening up a dreary Sunday. Coupled with the thought of Mandy being put in charge of the whole affair.

For me, it's stuff like the UK Linux article that sets MM apart from other mags.
They put thought into what they are writing, and writing about, making sure it's varied, interesting and stimulating - Instead of just review after boring, deja vu review.

Hats off to the MM team, In a league of their own Smile

A little off-topic, Jinux that ninja-tux image. Is there somewhere I can get that at desktop resolution for a wallpaper?

I don't know.
I doubt it because it's not a picture in it's own right, it's a frame from this video. (It's an EPIC vid btw)

Thanks.
There's a link on Youtube. Here it is.
http://www.cenda.cz/downSources/KillerTux.html

It has the Youtube video embedded and a wallpaper link.
Not the same image as yours but it's good. 5 different resolutions to pick from as well.
