Im considering getting one of these new mini mac things. Iwas wondering about the keyboard and mouse I could use with one. What special Keys does a mac keyboard have and would I be able to use an old pre windows key keyboard. Another part to that is can I get some sort of KVM switch which I could attach my current ps2 keyboard and usb mouse to and get ps2 out for my PC (only for the keyboard sticking with usb for the mouse) and USB out for the mac. If that makes sense.
TIA

| Exactly what I wanted it for as it happens. As well as needing a computer I cant easily fiddle with, I seem to suffer alot of downtime at my own hands. What I really need is a computer that gives me an electric shock everytime I think "I wonder what would happen if...".

Any old USB keyboard and mouse will work with a Mac. It'll automatically remap the keys. I can't remember off the top of my head but it's something like this:
Control stays as control but has a different use on the Mac (it brings up contextual menus) Windows becomes Command (Apple) Alt becomes Option
The only real difference is the Mac use the US location for @ and " even on British keyboards, so @ at Shift-2 and " is Shift-'.
Macs can use 3 button and scroll wheel mouse also.

You should go to the apple store in london or somewhere else where you can try out the mac mini.
I went to the apple store in london a couple of days back and I tried out the MM. I played with a 1.2 GHz and a 1.4 GHz side by side.
The 1.2 GHz was noticably and annoyingly slow... that was just navigating around OSX. They both had 512 MB of ram too not like the standard 256.
So if you are going to get one it should be the 1.4 GHz version min.
upgraded to 1.4 GHz with 512 MB and DVD writer and wireless it comes to £568

I would definately go for the 1.42 GHz having played with one myself (you don't realise just how small it is until you hold it in your hands. ). The iLife '05 software is great but for those who run wireless systems in their houses, I would reccomend having airport extreme 802.11g built in along with Bluetooth.
However, I wouldn't suggest buying the model off Apple with 1gigs of memory pre-installed. The RAM from Apple costs a lot of money and it is probably cheaper to buy third party RAM and have it installed by a local Mac dealer.
Unfortunately, as there is only one apple store it is quite a trek for most people to get there. However, as Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced in the MacWorld Keynote last January, Apple are hoping to open 5 more new stores around the UK by the end of this year which means more fun for us Mac fanatics.
I strongly reccomend buying the Mac Mini. I hope I have managed to help you in some way. Good luck.
