anyone know of a smallish distro that I can use to create a bootable (str8 into) mp3 jukebox that i can burn my mp3 to as well as the os?

You could try Puppy Linux; this is a small bootable CD distro (the iso is only 35MB, even us poor dial up users can get it ) and it is designed to run entirely in about 40MB of RAM.
