A buddy of mine is a bit of a geek and had an idea from a site he read. It said something about submersing your pc in water to cool it, if water is de something or other (de-ionised?) then it doesn't conduct electricity. So he made a box filled it with de thingy water, put an anti corroding agent in and dropped his mainboard in with its graphics card attached, ran cables outside the box to the drives and from the psu, hooked up his leds and left them dangling and ripped a switch from an old case and wired that up. Believe it or not when he pressed the on button it worked. Loaded windows fine and ran quite cool, i say quite cool his processor was running at the same temp as the water (10 degrees). So he decided to overclock it, after getting it up to 2.5 ghz the temperature hadn't increased so he kept going and somehow got it up eventually to 9.5GHZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He won't tell me how but apparently his rams running at several ghz

Is it April 1st?
Got any photo's of the POST screen, screenshots of CPUz, Sandra benchmarks etc etc?
Hmmmmm, that's one hell of an overclock. With a locked P4 1.5, to achieve 9.5Ghz means he has achieved an astronomical fsb and memory speed. Even if the processor multiplier is unlocked and set ridiculously high (like 800+! ) I would seriously (infact, definately) doubt the CPU can achieve such a speed, even at near absolute zero.
By the way, my dog can calculate pie to 3million places whilst simultaneously whistling classical music.

Sounds like the ultimate in water-cooling. Whats his next trick, put the mobo in a freezer and run his cables out the through the door, could overclock more yet?

lol, no - there was a hint of sarcasm is shruggie's post. Mine was blatant!
As I said, get a screenshot of his Sandra cpu benchmark score at 9.5Ghz, and a CPUz screenshot at the same speed.
You sure you hadn't eaten some strange fungi before you witnessed this amazing overclock? Are you sure your friend hadn't before he threw his PC in the bath?
edit:- by the way, my dog sends his best wishes. In 6 different languages.

YOU would need to plug the CPU into the national grid to power it i have a 1.7 and it wont go over 2.0ghz and thats with a temp of only 45c .SO a 1.5 running at 9.5 no way you must have got a bang on the head LOL 9500 GHZ what a thought.
