I keep hearing that the Gimp's as good as Photoshop. That's a lot to live up to...so How do you; Find the Histogram & does it have seperate colour channels? And I do not mean "click the Histogram button" cos I already guessed that, it's just that I have a wierd perception problem that makes navigating new programs a hassle. I'll be alright once I figure out where the heck everything is. Like the Histogram button. Can you use Photoshop plug ins like Eye Candy or Flaming Pear, brushes, shapes, gradients & the like? How do you add them? Can you make brushes & shapes in The Gimp like you can in ps? Will they work in ps?
Also, if anyone else out there likes Project Dogwaffle say Hi. Cos at the moment I'm the only person I know who's heard of it, and the pro version's out soon. I'd be really interested to know if its worth £50.

Thanks anyway, Cap; I know there's the help files but I'm on dialup and a 24meg download is a bit of a pain. I've been rummaging around and different people have done their own tutorials on different areas of the program; no-one seems to offer a step by step for beginners. So I'm writing one, with print screen shots. I'll add to it as I learn stuff. Wish me luck.
