Hi, All having a problem with windows crashing on the gromacs
I'm using the graphical client
Having difficulties installing console,?
I could do with a walk thro for an idiot!
When installing console version it just freezes display
any help appreciated?

HI, Had problems on first attempt with console but best advice create folder for it to run from, download to the folder right click and select run then follow on screen prompts, I think only real input required was machine no., name and team number and whether to accept Wus of greater than 5mb. Seems to work for Me All the best Chris.

Hi peteandchris, I have been having terrible problems with system instability, and virtually all the work I have had running is Gromacs. Could this be a theme, as I have been fighting to get my machine/system sorted out and am running full tilt onto a brick wall here. Tippon and Fridgemaker have even put a post a couple up asking me what I've found as my points and work unit scores are so out of whack, so perhaps they might have a few ideas. Is your system only crashing with Gromacs? Roger.

Hi Roger/Fairmania,What Gromacs you running, and on which system. I have had 8-10 gromac or GB Gromacs so far and one tinker. (that sounds so dodgy). And no problems but all I have used SIG rig and laptop for since installing FAH is surfing and updating FAH. Games on gamecube and Linux machine. You could may be set cpu useage a bit lower this will allow folding and other things to run with hopefully less crashes. hope this is of help Chris.

This may only be a shot in the dark, but do these problems arise ONLY when you are overclocking? I'd be interested to know.

Hi, All
thanks for replies, it's all gromacs which seemed to have caused my problems, only since I finished tinkers this prob occurred,
tried to install the console version and got into all sorts of problems,
In the end I dumped everything, done a system restore, downloaded graphics version, installed, All sorted for the last 2hrs or so! fingers crossed!
But pi***ed as I lost a few WU's for the team over the last day or so,SORRY
I posted mainly because i'm useless,(self taught wrinkly) with DOS and could not figure out how to install it,
Anyway it's working now, and thats all that matters

Hi Pete, don't worry about feeling it's all a bit much at times, I sometimes feel the same way. I haven't overclocked my rig either, although a quick lookie inside a few days ago did show it to be resident to a whole herd of dust-bunnies!?! You're worried about losing a few wu's on the way; I've amassed loads and I don't know how or if I can turn them into points. It may never happen, or I may get an award for them, you never know. My system has been running fine today, or so I thought until I checked the log and found a run of instability warnings when it downloaded the new unit to work on. I had three problems in a row, and now the flippin' things running perfectly........ I have to say I enjoy the team spirit here, and I hope we can iron out these oddball problems. You and I are struggling with the Gromacs, others aren't. My other machine hasn't logged an instability yet. Perhaps it's just too old and slow to get one, who knows. Best of luck mate, we'll get there in the end! Roger.

Try the 5.04 beta of the console it has been stable 4/7 for most of the last week for Me.
