Has anyone ever used Virtual PC for the Mac (OS X)? Is it any good?

It's amazing it works really and is rather impressive. The main thing it needs is Ram though, so buy it elsewhere cheaper and install it to make the most of your iMac when you buy it (the multi-tasking on the mac is head and shoulders above XP's crippling task switching/multitasking). Speed wise depends on the processor but will tend to give you a late 90's PC, in the 250-300 mhz range. I installed XP and was useable but slowish. A good option if you want to run win 98 programs or the odd app that must only require a PC. To be honest I uninstalled the old 'classic' os 9 environment and rarely use PC emulation. I prefer X and there's usually an X program that will do what you want. Otherwise you can use X11 to run linux stuff direct from the OSX desktop.

It is amazing and I've been told that version 7 is a vast improvement in the speed dept. On PowerBook G7/17" running OS X 10.3.5 I find Virtual PC 6 running XP irritatingly slow - that said, it's a RAM-hungry application and I only have 512MB, which might sound like a fair amount but remember that emulation has high overheads.
I may downgrade to Windows 2000. However, using the non-XP theme made XP a bit more responsive.
There is very little reason to use VPC these days though, the Mac has no shortage of great apps - I only have it as I reviewed it once upon a teardrop.
